Jitter and Shimmer measurements for speaker diarization

Jitter and shimmer voice quality features have been successfully used to characterize speaker voice traits and detect voice pathologies. Jitter and shimmer measure variations in the fundamental frequency and amplitude of speaker's voice, respectively. Due to their nature, they can be used to assess differences between speakers. In this paper, we investigate the usefulness of these voice quality features in the task of speaker diarization. The combination of voice quality features with the conventional spectral features, Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC), is addressed in the framework of Augmented Multiparty Interaction (AMI) corpus, a multi-party and spontaneous speech set of recordings. Both sets of features are independently modeled using mixture of Gaussians and fused together at the score likelihood level. The experiments carried out on the AMI corpus show that incorporating jitter and shimmer measurements to the baseline spectral features decreases the diarization error rate in most of the recordings.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

Actualment, la química teòrica està completant el darrer avenç: intentar esdevenir l'eina més recent per a comprendre la naturalesa química dels éssers vius. Aquesta revisió pretén mostrar com els mètodes de la química teòrica, originalment desenvolupats per a examinar molècules petites en fase gas, han evolucionat per a assolir la complexa descripció de sistemes biològics.Recent advances in theoretical formalism together with the dramatic development of computer infrastructure have allowed enormous progress in achieving the dream of the founders of chemistry: to submit the majority of chemical phenomena to calculation. Currently, theoretical chemistry is working towards reaching the next step: to become the ultimate tool to understand the chemical nature of living organisms. Automated Meter Reading and SCADA Application for Wireless Sensor Network

Currently, there are many technologies available to automate public utilities services (water, gas and electricity). AMR, Automated Meter Reading, and SCADA, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, are the main functions that these technologies must support. In this paper, we propose a low cost network with a similar architecture to a static ad-hoc sensor network based on low power and unlicensed radio. Topological parameters for this network are analyzed to obtain optimal performances and to derive a pseudo-range criterion to create an application-specific spanning tree for polling optimization purposes. Justifying the Precautionary Principle as a political principle

Our aim is to defend the Precautionary Principle (PP) against the main theoretical and practical criticisms that it has raised by proposing a novel conception and a specific formulation of the principle. We first address the theoretical concerns against the idea of there being a principle of precaution by arguing for a distinctively political conception of the PP as opposed to a moral one. Our claim is that the rationale of the PP is grounded in the fact that contemporary societies wish to avoid morally unacceptable risks while at the same time pursuing other goals, aspirations and values. Following this political conception of the PP, we propose a specific formulation in terms of an argumentation scheme — the Argumentation Scheme for Appealing to Precaution — which is meant to solve, in turn, the main practical concerns that the PP has raised. We explain the advantages of our proposal by analysing appeals to precaution in the cases of (1) the European restrictions on the free movement of persons during the COVID-19 pandemic and (2) the discharge of nuclear wastes into the Irish Sea.Spanish Ministry of Innovation, Science and Universities for funding their research through the project PID2019-107478GB-I0

Crítica a la obra de Salvador de Solórzano

RESUMEN. La obra que escribe Bartolomé Salvador de Solórzano, posiblemente, está sugerida por Pedro Luis de Torregrosa contador de Felipe II, el cual era bien conocedor de los problemas financieros, que sufría el rey, por razón del cargo que desempeñaba. El conocimiento contable de Salvador de Solórzano, probablemente estaba limitado a la partida simple en la forma que Diego del Castillo pone de manifiesto en su obra. Lo que amplía el conocimiento contable de Salvador de Solórzano es la Pragmática de Cigalas en cuanto ésta obliga, por razón de control de la moneda, a llevar la cuenta de caja. El conocimiento inicial unido a la nueva situación propiciada por la Pragmática genera una aproximación a la identidad contable semejante a la que Luca Pacioli pone de manifiesto en su obra.ABSTRACT. Cigales's Pragmatic is what extended the accounting knowledge of Salvador de Solórzano, because it obligas to carry out de treasury account to control the currency. RESUMEN. Este trabajo de investigación, pretende profundizar en una epistemologfa de la cuenta, de forma tal que se ponga de relieve la génesis, desde sus aspectos lógicos, lingüísticos, históricos, ideológicos, con la pretensión de lograr una explicación cientffica. El pensamiento de la época en que evoluciona el concepto de cuenta, está influido por Aristóteles, cuando se busca una explicación teleológica, y más tarde con Galileo, como una explicación causal, que pretende, fruto de su época el Renacimiento, no el porque ni el para que, que es el punto de partida de Aristóteles, sino el como, con el fin de controlar. Se ha desarrollado un esquema para una epistemología, que avanza de la tradición aristotélica y concluye con la cuenta como necesidad socialABSTRACT. In the epoch in which the concert of "account" developed, principies were influenced by Aristotle's ideas whenever a teleological explanation was wanted. As a conseguence of Renaissance, Galileo Galilei's ideological influence showed a way to explain the possible causes in such a way that a type of control could be exerted on tehm, and not what reason night be for the exisíence of such concept wich is the starting point for Aristotle. Control patrimonial y la administración de bienes muebles en la oficina nacional de procesos electorales, Lurín 2022

Como parte del desarrollo de este trabajo, se planteó que su propósito general fue determinar la relación entre el Control Patrimonial y la Administración de Bienes Muebles en la Oficina Nacional de Procesos Electorales, Lurín 2022. Este estudio fue de tipo correlacional, de diseño no experimental y de corte transversal, se utilizó como método para recolectar la información la encuesta; y el instrumento utilizado fue el cuestionario. La población para el estudio la conformaron los 90 servidores civiles de la sede central, y la muestra por un total de 73 servidores civiles. Se aplicó la estadística descriptiva para determinar los resultados y se tiene como conclusión que la relación entre la variable Control Patrimonial y la Administración de Bienes Muebles en la Oficina nacional de Procesos Electorales, Lurín 2022, es altamente significativa p<0.01 y el coeficiente de Rho Spearman (0.870) indica la existencia de correlación positiva alta, En otras palabras, una mejor gestión del control patrimonial conduce a una mejor gestión en la Administración de bienes muebles y vicevers
